In the early stages, Frenchmen can get caught up in the moment. They can be having a great time with a woman, really feeling it, and then they say something powerful like: “I want to marry you.” This may or may not be accompanied by a laugh or an intense gaze into your eyes.
Maybe you’ve been on a handful of dates with this guy and he hasn’t even said “I love you” yet.
So how on earth are you supposed to take such a declaration? Well, for starters, I know by my comments that some readers get very excited. They think that their Frenchman really means it and that he’s already super serious about the relationship. Let me stop you right away. Because no and no – he neither really means it nor is he already super serious. All he’s doing is letting the enjoyment of the moment sweep him along. And by doing so, what comes out of his mouth isn’t always totally true.
Of course, that isn’t to say that your Frenchman is lying. He’s not. He means what he says when he says it. But those words don’t always have a long shelf life. For example, his “I want to marry you” may be all but forgotten the following week when he takes hours responding to your texts. You see, it’s all about the now. All about the present moment for a Frenchman.
Now, for those who read my previous post here, you may be thinking, But hold a sec, you said to be in the moment.
That’s right, absolutely. But also realize that Frenchmen can get carried away with what they say. The only way you’ll know if he lastingly means what he says is through his staying power.
Also, you know deep down that after 3 dates, the guy can’t already want to marry you, right? At least I hope so. If you start shopping for wedding dresses, we’re gonna need to have a chat.
